In Autumn 1
we are learning...
In Writing we will be writing our own narrative based on The BFG by Roald Dahl and we will then be moving on to write a set of instructions to make a Woolly Mammoth.
In Oracy we will be focusing on choosing vocabulary for clarity and precision.
In Maths, we will be focusing on Place Value (within 1,000), learning to read, write, partition, and compare numbers to 1,000 as well as positioning these on a number line and counting in 50s. We will then move onto adding and subtracting 1, 10 and 100 including across boundaries. before introducing column addition.
In Religion and World Views, we will be learning about Hinduism and finding out what it means to be a Hindu in Britain today.
In History, we will be learning about how life changed in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
In Science, we will be learning about rocks, fossils and soil.
In PE on Wednesdays, we will be exploring how we feel in our minds and in our bodies, when we experience various emotions. We will learn how to execute meditative balances and relaxation techniques to help combat feelings of anxiety. We will gain an awareness of how to apply these techniques in day-to-day life. On Fridays, we will explore how to apply the principles of attack vs defence, with a particular focus on passing and moving in Netball.
In Computing, we will be responding to set tasks, sending emails and writing a blog all in the safety of school’s Virtual Learning Environment.
In French, we will be finding out about other countries that have French as their official language and learning how to count to 10.
In PSHE, we are going to be examining the connection between the mind and body by recognising a wide range of emotions and feelings.
In Art, we will be creating textures with paint and exploring collage through the work of Romare Bearden.
