Summer 1: Open Minds

Open Minds

Open minds are key towards a good education by encouraging the seeking of wisdom, knowledge, truth, understanding and the skills needed to shape life well. Wisdom, knowledge and understanding are regarded as virtues in many religions, not just Christianity. The Bible teaches God is the source of wisdom, knowledge and understanding, ‘It is the Lord who gives wisdom; from him come knowledge and understanding.’ (Proverbs 2:6).

Open minds foster a healthy culture for diversity and allow everyone to share their views and wisdom in a hospitable way, allowing healthy debate and the broadening of understanding. ‘Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.’ (Romans 12:2).

House Meeting: Coming Together

We were delighted to hold our first House meeting of the term, bringing pupils together across the school to take part in a range of team‑building games and activities. The session gave everyone the opportunity to work with new people, communicate effectively, and support one another while having fun. This links closely to our half‑term value of “Open Minds”, as pupils were encouraged to listen to different ideas, try new approaches, and reflect on how teamwork and cooperation help us succeed together. It was a positive start to the term and a great example of our school community learning and growing as one.
