Climate Ambassadors

Our Journey....

Over the past three years, we have been on an exciting journey to make sustainability a core part of our school community. What started as small, time-limited projects has grown into long-term foundations designed to help everyone build better habits that protect our beautiful world.

Our school is fully committed to making more sustainable choices. Sustainability is now embedded in our School Development Plan (SDP), ensuring it remains a priority for years to come. Leading this work are our dedicated Climate Ambassadors: Mr Chapman, Mrs Kelemen, Mrs Booth, and Mrs Maycock.

Our aim is clear: to create real and lasting sustainable change within our local community. This commitment is reflected in our SDP focus:

  • Reduce the school’s carbon footprint
  • Create environmentally responsible members of the school community

To make this achievable, we’ve broken our goals down into simple child pledges:

  • Use less and waste less
  • Walk more
  • Save energy
  • Take care of our things
  • Eat more veg

This autumn, we’ve focused on walking more. Highlights include:

  • Active participation in the WOW Walk to School Project, where we proudly achieved 3rd most active school in Leeds
  • Fun initiatives like ‘Boogie to School’, Walk to School Wednesdays, and traffic surveys

Together, these steps are helping us build a greener, healthier future for everyone.
