Year 1 – Summer 1

In Writing we will be writing sentences using adjectives and learning how to add prefixes and suffixes to words. We will be learning the story Ivy and the Lonely Raincloud by Katie Harnett and writing our own version of the story.

In Maths, we will be focusing on place value within 100,  multiplication, division and fractions.

In RE we will be learning about God and the Parable of the Lost Son.

In Geography we will be learning about the 7 continents of the world and hot and cold places around the world. We will be going on our class trip to Tropical World to learn about rainforests.

In Science we will be learning about the weather and seasons.

In PSHE, we will be learning about the law including what the Police do, how we can be responsible and why we have different rules in different places.

In PE, we will be learning jumping and basketball skills.

In Computing, we will be learning digital writing.

In Art we will be learning weaving skills and we will create our own woven wonders.

In French we will be learning about expressing preferences.

In Music, we will be learning about having fun with music and improvising.

Our Oracy focus is “my favourite place to go on holiday”. Please see email sent to parents for additional information regarding this, including when your child can bring in their showing.
