In Autumn 1
we are learning...
In Maths, we will be looking at place value of numbers up to 1,000,000. Our unit on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division will build upon previous learning and move on to squared and cubed numbers, long division and order or operations.
In Writing, the children will write an informal narrative based on the short film ‘Umbrella’. Following that, the children will be researching inspirational figures and writing biographies to celebrate their lives, achievements and contributions.
Science will see the children learning about the circulatory system, how nutrients and water are passed around the body and the function of the heart, blood vessels and blood.
In Art & Design, we will be looking at the skill of one point perspective to add depth to a piece of art as well as scaling up. The children will also be looking at the purpose of street art and designing an inspirational piece of their own.
Our Geography unit will look at Sustainability in Meanwood. The children will have the opportunity to undertake fieldwork in their local area to gather data and propose changes that might improve the area.
In PE this half term, we are lucky enough to have Oli in to build upon football skills. The children will also record their improvements in stamina with our health related exercises.
PSHE will look at keeping healthy. How choices the children make today will shape their future physical and mental health.
Our Religion and Worldviews unit will look at creation and science. Asking the children to consider whether creation and science are conflicting or complimentary.
In Computing, the children will look at analysis and collaboration.
In French, the children will be working on questions and responses and expressing and justifying an opinion.
